YEP Directors' Festival returns to Liverpool Everyman stage
Liverpool Everyman hosts the return of the YEP Directors’ Festival next week.
Last year’s event was cancelled because of the pandemic.
Six young directors will be given the chance to stage work at the Hope Street theatre between Monday, May 31 and Saturday, June 12. Each production will have three performances.
The festival opens with Icing Sugar/White Lilies, two short plays written and directed by Lorna McCoid, on May 31 and June 1.
Mary Savage directs Florence Keith Roach’s Eggs on June 2-3, while Olive Pascha takes on directing duties for Bull by Mike Bartlett on June 4-5.
The festival continues on June 7-8 with Box Clever, written by Monsay Whitney and directed by Melissa Ratcliffe, and Claire Dowie’s All Over Lovely, directed by Laurie Fahy, on June 9-10.
And it closes with Christopher York’s play Build a Rocket on June 11-12, directed by Jess Meade.
Tickets are limited because of social distancing restrictions and some performances are already sold out.
YEP director Matt Rutter said: “Hosting our first YEP Directors’ Festival since 2019 on the Everyman’s main stage is a huge moment for Young Everyman Playhouse and our theatres. We can’t wait to get back into the Everyman to showcase the talent of Liverpool’s young theatre makers.”
