WIMIN Festival to support and celebrate female artists

A music festival organised and promoted by women and featuring an all-female line-up is set to take place in Liverpool this summer.

WIMIN Festival will be held at Lock & Quay in Bootle on Saturday, July 29.

Organisers – from Scrapyard Studios CIC - hope the event, starring what is being described as a host of ‘esteemed female musicians’ performing live across two stages, will help to dismantle sexism in music, citing a Musicians’ Union study which found two thirds of women have experienced sexism in their music careers.

The one-day festival will also include interactive activities, talks and stalls from the best of Liverpool’s female-founded independent brands, along with mentoring opportunities for women looking to launch their own musical careers.

Festival director Holly Tulloch says: "WIMIN represents a powerful shift in the music industry, creating space for female artists and professionals to take centre stage and shine as they rightfully deserve.

“Our goal is to challenge the status quo and foster an environment where women can thrive in the industry without limitations or barriers."

Early bird tickets are currently available while there are also opportunities to support the festival in a variety of different ways.
