Unity Theatre presents 2025 spring season
The spring season has got underway at the Unity Theatre with the Hope Place venue playing host to a range of work and workshops between now and April.
The programme includes plays, short plays, children’s shows, scratch nights, physical theatre and storytelling.
Travelled Companions’ Waiting for Snow, at the theatre on January 9-10, is aimed at early years children and their families and takes them on an enchanting and joyful journey of waiting using physical theatre, clowning, puppetry and live music.
On January 21, Bric a Brac Theatre holds a creative workshop ‘looking at how to use devising techniques to navigate big topics’, while on January 28 Helen Jeffery will host a workshop in the Unity Bar giving advice on getting your work staged.
Unity Scratch Night returns on January 30 with the line-up including Taxi Tales | one night on the town, Winnie Southgate’s Bember, Unmasked by Ushiku Crisafulli and ‘unhinged’ sketch posse Legions of Doom.
A double bill of two new short plays – My Big Brother Sammy and Smiles - presented by 20 Stories High Actors LAB and the Unity comes to the stage on February 4-5.
Tim Foley’s Driftwood, on February 6, is billed as an inspiring story of hope, love and belonging, while other events in the spring season including Gav Cross’s storytelling show Tell Tale Tit on February 19; Esther Wilson’s dark comedy Static, starring Elaine Collins, on February 26, and This Kind of Black – Requiem for Black Boys, a powerful new stage show from poet and musician Reece Williams on March 13.
