Tung Auditorium announces busy 2025 programme
The Tung Auditorium has revealed a 2025 season programme packed with a wide range of concerts and appearances.
Starsailor, Thea Gilmore, American songwriter Joan as Police Woman, Liverpool piano superstar Paul Lewis and poet Hollie McNish are among the line up for spring and summer at the venue in the University of Liverpool’s Yoko Ono Lennon Centre.
There will also be concerts from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s Ensemble 10:10 and solo players, Liverpool Mozart Orchestra, Milap, Orchestra Dell’Arte and the university’s own choirs and ensembles.
And the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra will present the world premiere of Another Seven Symphonies: Music of the Beatles which sees the acclaimed Dutch orchestra performing seven pieces derived from 39 Beatles’ songs.
The new season opens on January 22 with an Ensemble 10:10 concert conducted by Domingo Hindoyan and featuring violinist Michael Barenboim.
US folk quartet Windborne play at the venue on January 31, while The John Martyn Project visits on February 6 with six artists coming together to celebrate Martyn’s music.
International violinist Keith Pascoe returns to his home city to perform Tchaikovsky with the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra on February 8, Starsailor celebrate 25 years of music making with two concerts on February 15 accompanied by a string ensemble, and Paul Lewis brings a trilogy of Schubert’s piano sonatas to the auditorium on February 16.

Keith James presents the Songs of Nick Drake on February 28 while Spiers and Boden pay a visit on March 8, Thea Gilmore on March 14 and the Manchester Collective bring Serenity 2.0 on March 15.
Saturday, March 29 sees the Liverpool Welsh Choral present a 125th anniversary concert including a new work by Keith Orrell composed for the occasion and linked to the theme of rivers. International pianist Martin Roscoe, Liverpool opera star Kathryn Rudge and organist Stephen Hargreaves will also appear.
Hollie McNish will read from her latest paperback Lobster and other things I’m learning to love on May 21 in an evening which will also feature writer Michael Pedersen for the Liverpool launch of his new debut novel Muckle Flugga.
Grace Petrie is in residence on May 30 and The White Horse Guitar Club on May 31.

German baritone Benjamin Appl appears with Ensemble 10:10 on March 5 and returns to perform a solo recital with pianist James Baillieu on June 18.
Then on July 19, the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra brings Another Seven Symphonies to the Tung in a world premiere performance.
Meanwhile the Tung’s free Wednesday lunchtime concert series opens on January 29 with a piano recital from Ian Pace and during the season it also features jazz favourite Perri Alleyne-Hughes with her ensemble on February 12, harpist Elizabeth McNulty on March 5, Pixels Ensemble’s Sophie Rosa and Ian Buckle on March 19, Mehboob Nadeem and Kousic Sen on April 2 and the Solem Quartet on May 7.
The Tung Auditorium’s artistic director Richard Hartwell says: “We’re always delighted to unveil our forthcoming programme, and this time it’s a bumper crop of shows highlighting so much of what we do best.
“There’s some great partnership work to produce this season which features some high-profile artists alongside emerging talent.”
