Tom Hanks makes Liverpool Empire date on book launch tour

Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks comes to the Liverpool Empire this month to celebrate the launch of his debut novel.

The Oscar-winning actor, director and writer will be ‘In Conversation’ at the Lime Street theatre on November 29 to talk about The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece.

Tickets go on sale to ATG+ members tomorrow at 11am and on general sale at 10am on Friday.

Exploring why he wanted to capture the changes in America and American culture over the past 80 years, Hanks will share the inspiration behind his colourful cast of characters.

Taking the audience behind the scenes and offering a glimpse into how a story becomes a finished film, the 67-year-old star will also touch on how he drew on his own career in Hollywood.

Funny, touching, and thought-provoking, the evening is a chance to see one of the greatest film stars of our time live on stage.

Liverpool Empire theatre director Diane Belding said: “We’re honoured that Tom Hanks has chosen the Empire for his book event. It’s a real coup for the theatre and for the city.

“Whether you know him best as Forrest Gump, or Woody from Toy Story or for any of his many amazing roles, he’s hugely popular around the world, but I just know our audiences will give him that big, warm, Liverpool welcome that we’re so famous for, we can’t wait.”
