Time Traveller's Wife cast revealed for world premiere at Storyhouse
The cast has been revealed for the world premiere of a new musical version of best-seller The Time Traveller’s Wife opening at Chester Storyhouse next month.
David Hunter is set to play Henry and Joanna Woodward will appear as Clare in the show which runs from September 30 to October 15.
The new musical, written by Lauren Gunderson from the much-loved novel by Audrey Niffenegger and the 2009 screenplay by Bruce Joel Rubin, has an original score by Grammy Award-winners Dave Stewart and Joss Stone.
Warrington-born David Hunter’s theatre credits include Waitress, Kinky Boots, Once, One Man, Two Guvnors and Tommy in the West End. In 2012 he reached the semi-finals of Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for an actor to play the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Joanna Woodward’s credits include Carole King in Beautiful, Emily in Zombies: The Musical and Mary in The Life at Southwark Playhouse. Most recently she has understudied and played Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical.
The cast also includes Alwyne Taylor as old Clare.
Henry and Clare’s love story is like no other, and yet like all others; they meet, flirt, fight, love, marry... but all out of order.
Henry is often and uncontrollably ripped out of time, because he suffers from a rare condition where his genetic clock periodically resets, pulling him into his past or future, vanishing before one’s eyes, never knowing where or when he’s going next.
Except he knows he’ll always come back to Clare, whether she's five-years-old playing in a field or 85, dreaming of her time-travelling husband.
The Time Traveller’s Wife is at Chester Storyhouse from September 30 to October 15. More details and tickets HERE
