Sunny Afternoon makes Liverpool Empire date on new tour for hit Kinks musical

Hit stage musical Sunny Afternoon is set to return to the Liverpool Empire as part of a new UK tour.
The ebullient Kinks-inspired show comes to the theatre from May 19-23 next year.
Tickets go on general sale this Friday, March 28, at 10am.
Sunny Afternoon tells the story of the band’s rise from obscurity in working class Muswell Hill to worldwide fame, the narrative driven through the lyrics of more than 20 Kinks’ numbers, either played in full or part during the evening.
Developed over the course of four years and spearheaded by Ray Davies, writer Joe Penhall and impresario Sonia Friedman, the musical was premiered at the Hampstead Theatre in 2014 and went on to spend two years in the West End to critical acclaim.
The multi-Olivier Award-winning musical previously visited the Empire in February 2017 as part of an inaugural UK tour when the cast included Mark Newnham (Two of Us, Come Together, Girls Don’t Play Guitars) as Dave ‘the Rave’ Davies.
Casting for the new tour, directed by Edward Hall, is yet to be announced.
Sunny Afternoon is at the Liverpool Empire from May 19-23, 2026. Tickets HERE
