Shakespeare North to host John Godber's hit homage to Northern Soul

John Godber’s infectious, Northern Soul-inspired stage show is heading for Shakespeare North Playhouse this spring.
Do I Love You? comes to the Prescot theatre from April 2-5 as part of a 2025 tour by the John Godber Company.
Join twenty somethings Sally, Nat and Kyle as they develop a love for, and the people involved with, Northern Soul. What started as a college project has grown into a passion, but the dance steps are exhausting.
Far beyond their home city of Hull the trio find excitement, purpose and the tribe they've been looking for. Now they can't get enough; from Bridlington Spa to Stoke, from Liverpool to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the young 'soulies' are determined to keep the faith.
This is Northern Soul for a new generation, but with rising costs, unemployment, and small town blues, has anything really changed? Is this England 1975 or 2025? The pubs are closing, hospitality has gone, and strikes are everywhere but when you're out on the floor.
The East Yorkshire-based John Godber Company was established in 2011 by Godber and his playwright/director/actor wife Jane Thornton to keep control of and present their own work.
The award-nominated Do I Love You? is the first of two Godber-penned shows visiting Shakespeare North this season. It will be followed by The Highwayman – set in 18th Century Yorkshire – which is at the theatre from June 25-28.
Do I Love You? comes to Shakespeare North Playhouse from April 2-5. More details and tickets HERE
