Royal Court comedy hopes for a full house

Eyes down and dabbers at the ready for the Royal Court’s latest show which promises cash prizes along with the comedy.

Bingo Star, written by the theatre’s Iain Christie and starring Alan Stocks, runs at the Roe Street venue until April 8.

And each performance will include a live bingo game with the audience vying to win one of three £50 prizes.

Arthur (Stocks) has been running Bingo Star for the last 50 years. People might talk about change, but he likes things just as they are thank you very much. They perfected bingo in the 50s and music in the 80s so there is nothing more to be done.

Arthur’s family and friends know that the club is in trouble but, as if in answer to their prayers, a man from the council arrives with plans for a new shopping centre to be built right outside. The future is looking bright, what could possibly go wrong?

The cast also includes Helen Carter, Paul Duckworth, Paige Fenlon, Jonathan Markwood and Keddy Sutton, and the show will be directed by Emma Bird.

Christie, who with his other hat on is the theatre’s head of marketing, says: "This is a really exciting show and I’m delighted to be working with such a great cast and director.

"Bingo Star should be a really fun night out for everyone, and three lucky audience members will be going home with £50 in their pockets.”

Bingo Star is at Liverpool’s Royal Court from March 10 to April 8. Tickets HERE
