Matthew Bourne's The Midnight Bell comes to Liverpool Playhouse on tour
The world premiere tour of Sir Matthew Bourne’s The Midnight Bell is coming to the Liverpool Playhouse this autumn.
The New Adventures piece, set in 1930s Soho, will be staged at the Williamson Square theatre from October 19-23 as part of a wider UK tour.
Tickets are on general sale now.
The Midnight Bell, inspired by the late English playwright and novelist Patrick Hamilton, explores the under-belly of 1930s London life where ordinary people emerge from cheap boarding houses nightly to pour out their passions, hopes and dreams in the pubs and bars of fog-bound Soho and Fitzrovia.
Step inside The Midnight Bell, a tavern where one particular lonely-hearts club gather to play out their lovelorn affairs of the heart; bitter comedies of longing, frustration, betrayal and redemption.
Along with Bourne, the creative team includes Liverpool’s Lez Brotherston and composer Terry Davies.
The Midnight Bell is at the Liverpool Playhouse from October 19-23 2021. Tickets HERE.
