Liverpool Sculpture Prize 2025 open for artist submissions

Artists from across the UK are being invited to submit entries for the 2025 Liverpool Sculpture Prize.

The competition, run by Liverpool BID Company and Liverpool Parish Church, comes with a £2,500 first prize and the opportunity to have the winner’s work showcased publicly for 12 months.

The new prize was inaugurated last year when it was won by Alan Dunn whose work Ascension is currently on display at the Parish Church near the waterfront.

Previously the winners of the Liverpool Plinth competition, open to Northwest artists, occupied the site on Chapel Street.

The application period for the 2025 sculpture prize runs from tomorrow (February 8) to April 8 and the entries will be judged by a panel including representatives from within the arts, business and creative communities. The winning entry will be revealed in June.

Along with the prize fee, the winner will have their work displayed either on the Chapel Street plinth or in the church’s gardens.

Liverpool BID’s director of strategic partnerships and communication, Katie Bentley, says: “We have a long-running commitment to public art and it’s a vital ingredient in everyday life in Liverpool.

“We wanted to develop a sustainable prize that would be open to artists across the country, and we’re excited to see the submissions we receive.

“We’re looking for artwork that is thought provoking, animating and that will catch the eye of those who walk past.”
