Liverpool Playhouse Studio hosts moving new play Raven

A moving new play inspired by its writer’s own experiences is being staged at the Liverpool Playhouse next month.

Raven, by actor and playwright Abigail McKenzie, will run at the Playhouse Studio from March 20-22.

And the Friday evening, March 21, also includes a bonus curtain raiser performance from Collective Encounters’ Women in Action group which has been taking part in workshops exploring the themes within the play.

Eris is hosting a party that never ends. As the boundaries between reality and illusion blur, she begins to face the devastating consequences of her choices.

Raven, performed by McKenzie and directed by Elinor Randle, explores themes of addiction, isolation and the far-reaching consequences of maternal relationships.

The production features puppetry by Ruta Staseviciute and is underscored with live cello from Satin Beige.

McKenzie studied acting at Webber Douglas, shifting her focus to playwriting in 2019, and has taken part in the Everyman and Playhouse Playwriting programme.

Raven is at the Liverpool Playhouse Studio from March 20-22. Tickets HERE
