Liverpool Empire dates for Gary Barlow Songbook Tour

Gary Barlow brings The Songback Tour to the Liverpool Empire next spring.

The Take That singer-songwriter, composer and producer will appear at the Lime Street theatre on April 28-29.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 29 at 9.30am.

The Songbook Tour is designed to be a huge celebration of Barlow’s long career and will see him perform songs from his much-celebrated back catalogue of hits with both Take That and as a solo artist.

The Frodsham-born 53-year-old previously appeared at the Liverpool Playhouse in 2022 with his show A Different Stage which told his life story in his own words.

As part of the group Take That, Barlow has won eight BRIT Awards and sold more than 45 million records.

Meanwhile one of the band’s biggest hits, Back For Good, turns 30 in March 2025. The track is still ranked as one of the UK’s favourite-ever pop songs, having reached the top of the charts on its release in March 1995 and went on to become the band’s biggest-selling song of the 90s.

This year, Barlow hit the road with his fellow Take That bandmates for a huge world tour, the This is Life Tour, playing sell-out shows and delighting fans around the globe. Their album of the same name, released in 2023, scored the band their twelfth number one album in the UK, spawning massive hits including Windows and the title track.

Aside from his achievements with Take That, he has also co-written and produced music for other renowned artists including Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John and former fellow bandmate Robbie Williams.

And away from the pop arena, Barlow has also teamed up with Whiston-born, Frodsham-raised screenwriter and playwright Tim Firth to write The Girls – a musical version of Firth’s hit stage show Calendar Girls, and Take That musical The Band.

Firth also wrote A Different Stage for Barlow.
