Liverpool arts organisations share BID culture funding
Five Liverpool arts organisations have been awarded a share of a £20,000 fund for creative events.
Liverpool BID’s Arts & Culture Fund is designed to support smaller arts projects that the business body feels will ‘help drive activity and animation’ in the city centre.
They are the Year of the Snake Chinese New Year Celebrations at St Luke’s Bombed out Church in February; Leap Dance Festival in May with dancing in the street and activity in Metquarter, and Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre's Youth Theatre programme, supporting 11 to 13-year-olds for 10 months.
Liverpool Lighthouse also received funding to put on A Gospel Christmas at St George’s Hall in December, and ArtsGroupie CIC was given a grant to stage street theatre across eight days in the city to support its current exhibition, Lights Up on Liverpool, at Central Library.
Julie Johnson, chair of Liverpool’s BID Company’s Culture & Commerce BID, says: “We had some incredible submissions to our fund, which is now in its second year.
“Our specific remit is to support those projects that are smaller and will have real benefit to the city. Our arts and culture sector is such a vibrant aspect of life in this city and we see that it brings a great benefit, not just to participants and audiences, but the wider city economy.”
Applications for the next round of grants close on March 14, 2025. Full details on how to apply HERE
