The days are getting longer, and the evenings are getting lighter – making it the perfect time to come out to enjoy Liverpool’s fantastic culture scene.

And there’s plenty to enjoy in the UNESCO City of Music, with a host of live events taking place this spring including a busy programme at the M&S Bank Arena.

From pop superstars to rock and rollers to space rock pioneers – plus a pair of ice-skating legends and the return of the hugely popular Comic Con – the landmark waterfront venue has lots going on.

In addition, there’s also a special Red Weekender planned to mark the final weekend of the Premiere League season.

Here are suggestions of five live shows to catch at the arena during the month of May.

Torvill and Dean – May 8-9

Catch British skating legends Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean at the rena on their last live tour.

Liverpool is the penultimate venue on the Our Last Dance tour which marks their retirement from skating together after half a century.

The pair will be joined on the ice by professional Dancing on Ice 2025 finalists Annette Dytrt and Mark Hanretty and semi-finalist Vanessa James. Previous Dancing on Ice winners Vanessa Bauer and Alexandra Schauman also join the tour.

Other pro skaters participating include Dancing on Ice favourites Andy Buchanan, Robin Johnstone, Sylvain Longchambon, Eric Radford, Lukasz Rozycki, and Dan Whiston.

Olly Murs appears at the M&S Bank Arena in May to celebrate 15 years since X Factor catapulted him to stardom.

Chart-topping Murs last headlined the arena in 2023 when he was supported by Scouting for Girls. He in turn supported Take That on their tour last year.

This time around Murs will be joined by boy band Blue, and he says: “Celebrating 15 unbelievable years doing what I love best will be truly special. But to top it off I’m taking a band with me who I was obsessed with in my college years.

“No doubt the pranks and banter will be free-flowing but most importantly it’s going to be a great night for the fans to enjoy, I can’t wait.”
