FACT to screen 90s films in Liverpool video store

FACT will screen three unmissable double bills of 90s films inside a Toxteth video rental store this October.

The screenings, from October 25-27, are part of the Wood Street arts centre’s Cinema in the City initiative to show films in unexpected and unique locations.

VideOdyssey, in the old Toxteth TV venue in Windsor Street, has been described as the ‘UK’s last video shop', and calls itself ‘a mecca for lovers of nostalgia’. Along with renting VHS tapes and recorders to members, it also has a video screening room.

Cinema in the City will see the screening of three coming-of-age double features that shaped youth culture in the 1990s – all from VHS.

On October 25, film-lovers can enjoy Pump up the Volume and Kicking and Screaming.

October 26 brings Juice and Boyz in the Hood, and finally on October 27 there are screenings of Show Me Love and But I’m a Cheerleader.

Filmgoers will also have the opportunity to battle and play in VideOdyssey's retro game arcade which features vintage titles like Ms.Pac-Man, Street Fighter II, Donkey Kong, and Double Dragon.

And food, drinks and themed cocktails will be available to buy.

Cinema in the City is at VideOdyssey from October 25-27. Details and booking HERE
