Dream Team reunited for Vasily Petrenko's final RLPO concerts

Pianist Simon Trpceski will be reunited with Vasily Petrenko for the Liverpool conductor’s final concerts at the Philharmonic Hall.

The pair, who together have been dubbed ‘the Dream Team’, will appear in concert over three nights next month.

Petrenko was due to conduct two farewell evenings at Hope Street, but demand for tickets has seen a third date added.

He will now be on stage on July 8, 9 and 10.

Macedonian virtuoso Trpceski will play Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No 2 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

He was set to perform with the Phil and their chief conductor last summer until the 2020/21 season programme had to be ripped up and reimagined due to Covid restrictions.

The programme for the concerts on July 8-10 also includes the original version of Schreker’s Der Geburtstag der Infantin along with Walton’s Façade: Suite No 1.

Vasily Petrenko leaves Liverpool this summer after 15 years at the Philharmonic Hall to take up a new role as music director at the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.
