Christmas Stocking Fillers at Liverpool's Royal Court

Liverpool’s Royal Court is offering some extra Christmas cheer next month with a selection of Stocking Fillers in its Studio space.

While Scouse Dick Whittington is on the main stage, seven new short plays, created by new and emerging writers who are nurtured by the Roe Street venue, will be showcased downstairs from December 7-30.

Tickets are £12-£15.

The playlets, each 10 minutes long, promise a mixture of comedy and drama on one bill, with a single cast of actors who take on different roles in each.

The seven short shows are: Jacqui Dunne – Christmas Delivery, Liam Gillies – Donkey Show, Janine Hammond – The Half Angel, Michael Hartless – Mother of Jesus, Ste Mc - The Face of Christmas, Stewart McDonald - Christmas is for Kids, and David Sindall’s Last Christmas.

They are directed by Nicole Behan and the cast features Charity Beau Addo, Charlie De'Ath, Jamie Peacock and Angela Simms.

Angela Simms says: “I can’t wait to get started on Stocking Fillers. It will be a festive treat and have something for everybody. It’s also a fantastic showcase of the brilliant writers that have come through the Royal Court’s Stage Write Programme.”

The 150-seater Studio space is designed to support the development of new plays, with three new pieces commissioned each year.

Stocking Fillers are at the Royal Court Studio from December 7-30. Tickets HERE
