Catch the Borealis at the Royal Albert Dock this spring

An art installation which recreates the awe-inspiring Northern Lights is on its way to Liverpool in March.

Borealis, created by ‘artivist’ Dan Acher, will cast its hypnotic and eerie glow across the waterfront from the Royal Albert Dock nightly from March 20-30.

The work, which has been exhibited in more than 40 cities across the world, combines technology and the elements using beams of light to travel through cloud particles, creating a magical illusion of the Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights.

With the artwork affected by wind variations, humidity and temperature, Borealis promises to be unique to every viewing.

The mesmerising immersive experience, which has a custom-made score by French composer Guillaume Desbois, will be hosted by the dock’s Hartley Quay during its 10-night stay and is free to view.

Dan Acher is the founder of Happy City Lab, and an Ashoka Fellow, based in Geneva. Central to his work is art as generator of change across local and global communities.
