Bring It On at Liverpool Empire this summer

The Liverpool Empire’s Youth Theatre are bringing a bit of Broadway to Lime Street this summer.

The talented teenagers and young actors will stage Bring It On: The Musical at the theatre on August 16 and 17.

And ahead of that, the youth theatre will also perform the multiple Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening at the Empire this Saturday, August 10 - with matinee and evening shows.

Bring It On: The Musical, which is loosely based on the 2000 film about two American high school cheerleading teams preparing for a competition, has music and lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Music also comes from the multi award-winning Tom Kitt with lyrics by Broadway lyricist Amanda Green, while the musical’s book is by Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q).

Campbell is cheer-royalty at Truman High School and her senior year should prove the most cheertastic — she's been named captain of the squad. But an unexpected redistricting has forced her to spend her final year of high school at the neighbouring Jackson High School.

Despite having the deck stacked against her, Campbell befriends the school's dance crew.

Together with their headstrong and hardworking leader, Danielle, they form a powerhouse squad for the ultimate competition — the National Championships.
