Bedknobs and Broomsticks flies in to Liverpool Empire on UK tour

The world premiere stage production of Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks is the latest show to announce dates at the Liverpool Empire.

The musical fantasy – based on the 1971 family film favourite – comes to the Lime Street theatre from February 22-26 next year.

Dianne Pilkington will play Eglantine Price, the role originally taken by Angela Lansbury, while Charles Brunton will appear as Emilius Browne.

When the three orphaned Rawlins children are reluctantly evacuated from wartime London to live with the mysterious Miss Price, they have no idea what adventures lie ahead.

Upon discovering Eglantine to be a trainee witch, they join forces to search for a secret spell that will defeat the enemy once and for all.

Armed with an enchanted bedknob, a bewitched broomstick and a magical flying bed, they encounter surprising new friendships on their journey from Portobello Road to the depths of the beautiful briny sea.

The show, with a book by Brian Hill, features the original songs by the Sherman Brothers along with new music and lyrics by Neil Bartram, and is directed by award-winning Candice Edmunds and Jamie Harrison.

It comes to the Empire as part of a tour of UK and Ireland.
