FACT reopens with new film and food plans for its Wood Street base

FACT reopens its doors to the public after lockdown ends this week and bosses at the Wood Street arts venue have revealed plans for a new film season and food offering.

The venue has teamed up with HOME in Manchester to stage the special three-month cinema programme which opens in January.

Meanwhile the empty ground floor café space is being taken over by bakery The Wild Loaf which was founded by two art graduates in 2016 and was previously based in Hardman Street until Covid forced it to shut. People will be able to see the baking process in action.

FACT’s two current exhibitions, And Say the Animal Responded and Augmented Empathy will continue in the gallery spaces and their running date has been extended to February 14.

Picturehouse is currently closed because of the pandemic, but the new film season with HOME starts on January 14 with the 2020 film Shirley starring Elisabeth Moss.

FACT will screen a limited selection of films from January to March. They include Brandon Cronenberg’s arthouse sci-fi horror Possessor, and a seductive and sun-soaked tale of first love told in French-Belgian drama Summer of 85.

Each film will be shown just once with a limited number of tickets available to ensure households can sit together while at the same time being socially distanced.

Screenings will take place on Thursday and Friday evenings plus Saturday afternoons and film listings and times can be found on the FACT website.

Tickets will be £9.50 for adults and £7.50 for concessions and can be booked online, on the phone or in-person at FACT.

FACT director Nicola Triscott said: “We’re over the moon to be working with HOME and The Wild Loaf to share this exciting news.

“This year has brought many challenges, but FACT continues to adapt and evolve to offer exciting programmes of art and film for our visitors to enjoy safely. The team has gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of our visitors.”

FACT reopens on December 2. For more details visit the website HERE
