£2.1m Culture Recovery Fund boost for Liverpool organisations

Another 14 Liverpool venues and cultural organisations are set to share more than £2.1m of newly announced cash from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

The new grants include £729, 491 for Camp and Furnace, £450,000 for Hot Water Comedy Club and £94,447 for Tiny Giants Productions Ltd.

Blackfest, Open Culture - which organises LightNight, Hope Street Theatre, Granby Workshop, Grand Central Hall and Great Georges Community Cultural Projects Ltd are also among the recipients revealed today.

Meanwhile Heart of Glass in St Helens has been awarded £200,808.

The grants are in addition to the £5.1m of funding announced for city cultural bodies and venues earlier this week.

They are part of that a further 588 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving a share of £76m from the £1.57bn Culture Recovery Fund which is aimed at helping organisations affected by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic to have a sustainable future.

All the recipients applied for grants of £1million and under.

The Arts Council’s Area Director North, Sarah Maxfield, said: “The pandemic has had a massive impact on the whole range of organisations working in the North’s cultural sector - theatres, music venues, festivals, museums and the companies who support them with technical sound, light and staging services.

“Today we're announcing much needed investment and support from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund to a group of organisations across the North - with more announcements in the coming weeks - providing an essential lifeline so the cultural sector can survive and come back strongly in the future.”

Successful Liverpool applicants also include Jimmy’s LPL Ltd, Liverpool Scenic Workshops LLP, Osun Arts Foundation, Redwood Bars and Trio Entertainment Ltd.
