FACT closes its galleries and Picturehouse to shut

FACT’s galleries have been closed following the latest Government advice over the Coronavirus pandemic.

But Picturehouse cinema screens are remaining open at the Wood Street venue - although only until tomorrow.

FACT was due to launch its latest exhibition, And Say the Animal Responded?, this Friday.

The show was due to bring together the work of five international artists/artist groups - Ariel Guzik (Mexico), Amalia Pica (Argentina/UK) with Rafael Ortega (Mexico), Kuai Shen (Ecuador), Demelza Kooij (Netherlands/UK - Liverpool) and Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg (UK) - presenting visitors with face-to-face encounters with the sounds and behaviours of animals from around the world.

A statement from the organisation said: “Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our community and this is why FACT has taken the decision to postpone the opening of our exhibition, And Say the Animal Responded?, and all exhibition-related events."

Picturehouse is one of a number of UK cinema chains due to shut their doors because of Government advice against all but essential work and gatherings.

A statement by the cinema company said: " We deeply value our cinema-loving audience and staff and their health and wellbeing is our number one priority during this difficult time. We look forward to welcoming our Picturehouse customers back through our doors as soon as possible."
