Liverpool comedy spectacular to support LFC fan Seán
A special comedy benefit evening in Liverpool to raise funds for Reds fan Seán Cox has been postponed.
Support Seán – You’ll Never Walk Alone was due to take place at the M&S Bank Arena on March 15 with proceeds going to The Seán Cox Rehabilitation Trust.
John Bishop, Jo Brand, Jo Caulfield, Neil Fitzmaurice, Jason Manford, Andrew Maxwell, Adam Rowe and Paul Smith were all announced on the bill for the massive fundraising event.
A new date is yet to be announced.
The Seán Cox Rehabilitation Trust was set up to raise money to fund the future rehabilitation of the Liverpool fan, from Dunboyne, who was left with life-changing injuries following an horrific and unprovoked attack in April 2018.
The 53-year-old father of three was assaulted as he made his way to Anfield to watch the Champions League semi-final between LFC and AS Roma. After almost 18 months of treatment in Ireland, he is currently undergoing an initial 12-week rehabilitation programme in the North of England in a specialist neurological facility which focuses on developing speech and movement.
This is the second night of comedy Bishop has arranged to raise money for the ‘Support Seán’ campaign. The first show at Dublin’s 3Arena on 10 January 2020 - featuring Michael McIntyre, Tommy Tiernan, Dara O Briain, Deirdre O’Kane, Joanne McNally, Jason Byrne and Des Bishop - sold out in just 15 minutes and is still going ahead.
Bishop says: “Seán Cox was just like any other football fan - an ordinary man on his way to watch his team playing a big game. Then this brutal attack happened and changed his life forever. It could have been any of us.
“So we’re using laughter to support this very brave man.”
