Craig Cash and Phil Mealey’s pub sitcom Early Doors is taking to the road on tour with a date at the Echo Arena.

Early Doors Live will come to the waterfront venue on October 7, and tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow.

The BBC sitcom original aired in 2003-4, and centred around Ken (John Henshaw), landlord of The Grapes, a small Stockport pub, and the goings on with family, friends and customers.

Cash and Mealey played best friends and regulars Joe and Duffy, while the TV cast also included Mark Benton, Maxine Peake, Lee Ingleby and a young James McAvoy.

Henshaw, Cash and Mealey will all appear in the live version, which has been commissioned by West End producer Phil McIntyre and will feature a completely new story.

Ken has got love on his mind, but will barmaid, Tanya, ring the landlord’s bell? Old Tommy would play Cupid - if only he didn’t have IBS (Irritable Bugger’s Syndrome). Crime is on the rise but fear not, as local cops Phil and Nige are getting stuck in... to a couple of pints in the back room.

Craig Cash and Phil Mealey said: “Writing Early Doors again has been a joy and we’re really excited by the results. Putting it on stage for the first time ever will be a huge thrill.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am on March 16 from the Echo Arena website HERE
