The Albert Dock’s annual Heritage on the Dock event has moved from September to April for 2018.

The event is one of four major festivities which have been announced for the Grade I Listed landmark during the year.

It will take place from April 5-8, offering a host of free activities and attractions including walks, talks, live music and workshops which celebrate the history of the 172-year-old brick dock complex.

There are also returns for the popular Steam on the Dock (May 12-13), Folk on the Dock (August 25-27) and the swashbuckling family favourite Pirates on the Dock (September 15-16).

And the attraction will also be at the heart of a number of other major events as part of the Liverpool 2018 calendar, marking 10 years since Capital of Culture.

They include the Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta, the return of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, and the opening of the Adventure Dock Company’s aqua park, along with major exhibitions at Tate Liverpool which marks its 30th birthday this year, and a new Beatles in India show at The Beatles Story.

Albert Dock marketing manager Clare Rawlinson says: “We’re building on our much-loved festival programme to bring back the most popular events - Pirates, Steam, Folk, and Heritage. Each festival is growing and will come back in 2018 bigger and better than before.”
