Liverpool Loves takes to the stage this weekend

Liverpool Loves festival returns to the city centre this weekend.

The Orb CIC event, on Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6, takes place over two locations for 2017 – Derby Square and Liverpool ONE.

Festivalgoers will be able to enjoy more than nine hours of live music on Saturday, with The Guide Liverpool and SoulFest behind the line-up, and seven on Sunday when it is hosted by The Rider Podcast with John Gibbons from The Anfield Wrap.

Saturday’s entertainment includes Cherry V, Mica Millar and LA Walkway, along with Pixey and Delphina Kings.

On Sunday it’s the turn of Edgar Jones, Natalie McCool, The Shipbuilders and Red Rum Club among others.

Meanwhile Liverpool ONE will host a family and community programme of cultural and wellbeing activities from noon to 5pm each day, both at the On The Green programme in Chavasse Park and The Culturebox Stage on Thomas Steers Way.

Events include yoga and laughter yoga, circus skills, hoop dancing, Samba and Tai Chi demonstrations, and performances from Eclipse Cheerleading and Britain’s Got Talent finalists MD Productions.

The Culturebox Stage will feature a mixture of dance, community groups and local and international music. Expect entertainment from Liverpool Harmonic Gospel Choir, Liver Drummers, Viva Brasil Samba, Alandalus Flamenco, ukulele band D'Ukes of Hazzard and Liverpool School of Cantonese Kung Fu among others.

Liverpool Loves, dubbed 'the People's Festival', is a celebration of all things Liverpool – with four core themes of business, culture, food and well-being showcasing the best of life in the region.
