Strawberry Field gates on show at Beatles Story

The original Strawberry Field gates are going back on public display in Liverpool from today – but not at the Salvation Army home.

The iconic gates, which have been in storage since they were replaced by replicas six years ago, are set to go on show at The Beatles Story.

Tens of thousands of Beatles fans make a pilgrimage to Strawberry Field in South Liverpool each year. The former children’s home was immortalised in John Lennon’s song Strawberry Fields Forever, which was released as a double A-side with Penny Lane 50 years ago.

The original gates were said to be extremely fragile, and were removed by the Salvation Army in 2011.

Now they will able to be seen at the Albert Dock Beatles’ attraction.
